Discover Your Adventure
Experience the best of the Peruvian history and culture on this full day Q’eswachaka Rope Bridge Tour. Qeswachaka Inca Bridge is the only surviving Inca Rope Bridge.
It connects the two villages on both sides of Apurimac River. The bridge spans 33 metres in length and 1.20 metres in width. It is suspended 15 metres above the river.
The name, Q’eswachaka is a combination of two Quechua words. Qeswa or Keshwa means rope and Chaka means Bridge. As the bridge is built using ropes, it is named Keshwa Chaca.
The Inca Empire was massive. It became difficult for people to travel around the empire. To facilitate this, they built Qhapaq Ñan or the Great Inca Trail. However, there were some regions where they could not build roads. In those places they built suspension bridges.
Qeswachaka is the last bridge built by Incas. Infact, this is the only surviving bridge. Thanks to the people from four nearby communities who gather every year and hold a four day event to gather straws, braid them and re-build the bridge.
This is a notable event and has been recognised by BBC and NOVA. In 2009, the government of Peru recognised Qeswachaka Inca Bridge as a Cultural Heritage.
We offer the Q’eswachaka Rope Bridge Tour as a full day tour from Cusco on a daily basis. We have an excellent team of local tour guides who have extensive knowledge about the history and culture.

Q’eswachaka Rope Bridge Tour
Day 1At 06:00 AM, we will be picking you up from your hotel in Cusco. Then in our private transport, we will be driving you through the South Valley of Cusco to Canas Province, home to Qeswachaka Inca Bridge.
Along the way, we will be having a brief stop to see the four beautiful lagoons, Acopia, Asnacocha, Pampamarca and Pomacanchi. These lagoons nestle in a beautiful setting and are dotted with snow capped Andean peaks.
Once you have had your fill, we will be continuing to Canas Province. Our guide will be giving you an insight to the culture and traditions of locals living here. From the car park, it is a short hike to the Q’eswachaka Bridge.
You can then cross the bridge to get to the other side of the river where a member from the local community will welcome you. If you are not willing to walk on the rope bridge, there is a newly built bridge right next to it.
The community members will then demonstrate the way they build the bridge. After we have finished the tour, you will have some free time to walk around the village. We will then stop for breakfast.
Later in the evening, we will embark on a three hour drive back to Cusco city.
