Itinerary

Day by Day Journey

Day 1

Cusco – Paucartambo – Ninamarca – Cloud Forest – Pilcopata

Day 1

The adventure begins very early with a pick-up from your hotel in Cusco to start the journey toward Manu National Park.

During the route, we will travel through beautiful Andean landscapes and visit the archaeological site of Ninamarca, where you can appreciate ancient pre-Inca burial towers. Then, we will continue to the traditional town of Paucartambo, known for its culture and traditional festivals.

Afterward, we will ascend to the highest points of the route before descending into the Manu Cloud Forest, a vibrant ecosystem where we can observe orchids, giant ferns, tropical birds, and, with some luck, the famous Andean Cock-of-the-rock, Peru’s national bird.

At the end of the day, we will arrive in Pilcopata, where we will enjoy dinner and spend the night in a comfortable lodge.

Day 2

Pilcopata – Puerto Atalaya – Madre de Dios River – Amazon Lodge

Day 2

After breakfast, we will continue our journey to Puerto Atalaya, located on the banks of the Upper Madre de Dios River.

Here, we will board a boat to navigate along the river while enjoying the impressive landscapes of the Amazon rainforest. During the journey, we will have the opportunity to observe birds, turtles, monkeys, and other species that inhabit this ecosystem.

Upon arrival at the Amazon lodge, we will enjoy lunch and then take a guided walk through the jungle trails. Our guide will explain about medicinal plants, giant trees, and the importance of conserving this tropical forest.

At night, we will take a guided night walk to observe insects, amphibians, and different species that become active after sunset.

Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 3

Machuwasi Lake – Parrot Clay Lick – Wildlife Observation

Day 3

Very early in the morning, we will begin our activities in the Amazon rainforest.

We will visit Machuwasi Lake, where we will walk along a floating platform surrounded by vegetation to observe Amazonian birds, monkeys, and other animals that inhabit this ecosystem.

Later, we will visit a parrot clay lick, a natural area where different species of parrots and small macaws gather to consume minerals from the clay, creating a unique wildlife spectacle in the Amazon.

After lunch, we will take guided walks around the lodge area to search for different species of wildlife and learn more about the incredible biodiversity of Manu.

At night, we will return to the lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 4

Amazon Rainforest Exploration – Nature Activities

Day 4

After breakfast, we will continue exploring the Amazon rainforest through guided walks along the natural trails of Manu.

During the journey, we will learn about the flora and fauna of the tropical forest, observing different species of birds, monkeys, butterflies, and native plants of this region.

We will also have time to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the Amazon, take photographs, and learn more about the importance of this ecosystem for the planet.

At night, we will participate in another activity to discover the wildlife that appears after sunset.

Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 5

Amazon Lodge – Madre de Dios River – Cloud Forest – Cusco

Day 5

After breakfast, we will begin our return journey to Cusco.

We will take the boat along the Madre de Dios River back to Puerto Atalaya and continue by tourist transportation through the cloud forest and Andean landscapes.

During the route, we will make some stops to enjoy the scenery and take photographs.

Finally, we will arrive in Cusco approximately between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm, depending on road conditions.
