Cusco – Aguas Calientes Town – Machu Picchu
Day 1We will be picking you up from your hotel in Cusco quite early in the morning. Then in our private transport, we will be driving you through the Sacred Valley of Incas to Ollantaytambo train station.
Here, we will be boarding the train to Aguas Calientes . This is an authentic travel experience as you will get to see the Peruvian highland farms and villages on this expedition train service operated by Peru Rail or Inca Rail.
Once at Aguas Calientes train station, the tour guide will be meeting you at the train station and will be transferring you to the bus terminal. Here, you will be boarding the bus to Machu Picchu citadel. It is a 25 minutes drive.
Machu Picchu Tour:
The tour guide will be assisting you in clearing the security control and to enter the citadel. We will then give you a detailed two hours tour of Machu Picchu citadel.
After the tour, you will have some free time to explore the citadel on your own. If you have booked in advance, you can hike the Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountains.
Optionally, you can even hike to the Sungate or Intipunku. You won’t need to book it in advance. This offers a spectacular view of the citadel. Only those on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu enjoy the view at the first light of the sun.
After the full day tour, you will be taking the bus back to Aguas Calientes town. You will have some free time to stop for lunch.
We will then take the train to Ollantaytambo. Our representative will be meeting you on arrival and will be driving you back to Cusco city. You will be reaching Cusco between 09:00 PM and 09:30 PM.
