Day 1Your adventure begins with hotel pickup in Cusco at 4:30 a.m. As you leave the city behind, you will witness the sunrise over the majestic Andes while traveling toward the district of Cusipata (3,310 m / 10,860 ft), where you will enjoy a delicious breakfast.
After breakfast, the journey continues to Santa Lucía (3,623 m / 11,886 ft), passing through beautiful Andean scenery with breathtaking mountain views.
From Santa Lucía, you will begin a scenic hike to the impressive Waqrapukara Fortress (4,140 m / 13,583 ft). The trail offers spectacular views of the Apurímac Canyon and surrounding valleys, making every step a rewarding experience.
Upon arrival, you will have time to explore the fascinating archaeological complex of Waqrapukara, climbing through its ancient terraces, ceremonial structures, and temples while learning about its pre-Inca and Inca history from your professional guide.
One of the highlights of the visit is the fortress's iconic rock formation, whose shape resembles a pair of horns—giving Waqrapukara its name. From its natural viewpoints, you will enjoy unforgettable panoramic views and excellent opportunities for photography.
After exploring the site, you will enjoy a box lunch surrounded by the stunning Andean landscape, or, depending on the day's itinerary, return to Cusipata to enjoy a delicious buffet lunch.
